    Day 8

      Hi everyone!

Well we went to the gym again last night.  Dean ran about 2 miles and worked on the weights and then hit the sauna, and I rode the bike, hit the tread mil, and then worked on legs and did my crunches again then hit the sauna.  That was a treat, I had never been in one before.  I wasn’t sure how long I should stay so I stayed 20 minutes.  The thing that was torture was the sauna over looked the pool so when your sitting there sweating your butt off you can see all the people in the pool.  I have decided that I hate the crunches the most in my exercise routine. Dean says they are the best thing for me which is probably why I hate them the most.  I asked him what was his least favorite and he said none of it.  I guess that is a typical man in the gym.  My whole body is an annoying sore you know the sore that is there when you do something but if your just sitting there you don’t notice it, but no pain no gain.  Food wise I probably could have had a better day yesterday but I was up at the girls school helping with Rodeo Art (Houston has a live stock show and Rodeo every year.  And the schools around the area all have the kids draw pictures, and the are judged by rodeo officials.  If they win their pictures actually get taken to the rodeo which goes on for about 3 weeks and they are on display for everyone to see..)  Well the girls made it past the first round they were two of the 90 pictures choose out of  over 500 kids from Pre-K -1st grade.  So we are pretty proud of them.  We will find out tomorrow how they did.  Anyways I was up at the school yesterday helping decorate and hang the pictures for the judging today.  So I had a 100 calorie snack pack, and 2 -100 calorie popcorns, but when I went to the gym I burned most of it off.  Dinner was a little healthier, we had chicken, green beans, and salad.  Dean had an 100 calorie snack bar for breakfast and an orange for lunch.  I told him he needs to eat more but he doesn’t listen to me.  We both talked about how proud we are of each other for making it the first eight days.  I hope that the rest of you are doing as well.  We are still looking for people to share recipes with so if you have them share them!

    Days 6 & 7

I missed yesterday so I am going to combine today and yesterday into one.  Yesterday went ok until dinner (see what we are eating blog).  I got tired of trying to work out at home and not having a clue to what I was doing so I talked to Dean and we worked out a deal and joined a fitness center.  So we went last night and took a tour and I was pretty nervous.  Here I am walking in weighing over 300 and you have all these people walking in and out that look like they belong on the cover of magazines.  Well they tell us that when we sign up that we get a free training day with a trainer.  I am thinking oh great I am going to get some little blonde girl who weighs all of 100 pounds to help me.  I know that is there job but they just intimidate me by the way they look.  Well let me tell you I was wrong.  My trainers name is Ty.  He is about 6 ft 5 and weighs some where in the 200’s and it is all muscle.  He walked up to me and introduced himself and asked me while I was here.  So I told him what I was doing, and he tells me not to worry that he is going to work with me and that I am going to look better then the people on the Biggest Loser.  So I tell Dean later on that I am not sure if I want to work with him or not because he scared me. ( I will have to take a pic to show everyone).  So anyway, he and Dean are working out tonight and right before we leave Ty comes up to me and tells me I don’t have to be afraid of him until we do the workout.  I could of killed Dean I was so embarrassed by him.  Oh well what is done is done.  Dean and I both had a good week.  Hopefully we will be able to keep it up.  I like working out but I am so sore now!  Hopefully I will be able to move in the morning.

     Day 5

Well I am a day behind.  Yesterday was ok day until it came to dinner.  It was late and Dean was working at Pizza Hut again for his mom and the girls and I were not at home and Dean called and asked what was for dinner and I told him that I hadn’t cooked.  He asked if I wanted a pizza and at first I said no.  I said that I would cook, well by the time that he got off I still had not made it home or cooked so we ended up with Pizza, bread sticks and chicken.  I had a little of all of it and I am not going to lie it all tasted so good, but when I was done eating I felt so guilty.  I couldn’t believe what I had done.  That is all that I am going to say about yesterday that it was a bad day and it isn’t going to happen again I hope.  One last thing I can say when I was eating the pizza that I didn’t break my water trend.  I stuck to it instead of having a soda or something.

    Day 4

Well the weight is coming off just not as fast as I wish it would.  I am fighting an up hill battle here.  I don’t want to quit yet.  I just want faster results then what I am getting.  I think that is why I have quit in the past because it’s not fast enough, and I am not one to wait.  I want results now.  Dean says it will come just be patient.  He also says that he can feel and see his results but he doesn’t have as much weight to loose plus he has been working out all along at work running and lifting weights every day and I am still getting into the process of the whole thing.  I have done a little more since I am unemployed right now but, we don't have the money for the gym so I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought so of the little exercise balls.  I got the 2 pound ones thinking that it would be nothing to use them boy was I wrong.  I had to tell myself that it has been a while since high school and it isn't going to be as easy as it was back then.  For example I did 50 just 50 sit ups tonight and I was pretty proud of myself because it has been since high school since I have done them.  Anyways when I was done I went to stand up and got a Charlie horse in my stomach.  I thought I was going to die.  It just shows me how out of shape that I really am.  I still like the healthy eating I just wish that I could find more recipes that Dean and I like.  He is too picky of an eater.   I know that this might sound crazy but when I get up in the morning, I am up and ready to do something, not lag around like I used to, and it seems like my body doesn’t require as much sleep as I used to.  I used to sleep 8-10 hours and still be tired sometimes, but now I am going on 6-8 and actually feeling pretty great when I wake up in the morning, so I guess that is a good sign.  Dean has been doing good working this weekend for his mom at Pizza Hut, he says it all smells so good and is so tempted but he says that he hasn’t cheated so I am proud of him.  I know that we can both do it we just have to stick to it.  I asked him this morning what was the one thing that he missed the most and he said that it was his pizza, I guess for me it would be the Cokes, I think that my body is having with drawls, but when we started this we said that we were going to stick to it so he is going to have to live with out pizza and I am going to have to live with out my cokes.

    DAY 3

I LOST 3 LBS AND DEAN LOST 4!!!!  This is going easier then I expected it to go.  Dean did say he had a tough time at Pizza Hut last night smelling and seeing all that good pizza.  I pulled up on line how many calories were in one slice and I think he had a change of heart.  I did have a midnight snack.  I don’t know why I wasn’t hungry but that was all that was on my mind was food and I am never one to eat late.  Dean and I both did exercises on the ball and he also walked a mile.  This weekend is going to be our real test.  We are not ones to sit at home and we are used to going out and eating and doing stuff, so who knows how it is going to go.

Day 2 I LOST 2 POUNDS AND DEAN LOST 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am so proud of us.  He does have an advantage though because he has a weight room at his work and he can work out when ever he wants.  His real test will be tomorrow when he goes to Pizza Hut.  His mom is the manager of one and he helps deliver when they are short handed so he is working all this weekend.  I have told his mom what we are doing so hopefully she can help him out.  I on the other hand am still trying to figure the out the whole exercise thing.  I didn’t do any on day 1 but I did so sit ups today.  Today was also grocery shopping day.  I knew that this was going to be fun because I am so used to going into the store and picking up what ever sounds or looks good.  So there I was in the grocery store looking around.  Trying to find healthy stuff that we would actually eat.  You know something that doesn’t taste or look like cardboard.  Well after shopping the store I realized that wasn’t going to be as hard as I thought it was going to be.  I got lots of fruit, which I have always bought, and my frozen veggies.  Do you know that they make them now where you can cook them in the bag in the microwave and they actually taste good.  I have always bought frozen veggies but first time I tried them in the microwaveable bag.  We had the green beans last night and they were really good.  I am sure that this going to get harder as time goes by but hopefully we will be able to stick to it.

    Day 1
Well day 1 wasn't as hard as I thought that it was going to be.  I am not a breakfast eater so this is something new for me to get up and make myself eat something in the morning.  We went to the mall yesterday to take the girls to see Alvin and the Chipmunks and we all know what kind of temptations are at the mall, but I thought I was doing good by getting a smoothie but I found out that it wasn't the best choice for me but it was the best out of what I had to choose from.  Didn't have anything at the movies but the popcorn really looked good.  Got home and I got hungry or at least I think I did.  Sometimes I think I eat because I know that it is there.  Anyways I grabbed a 100 cal. pack of cookies and ate them.  For dinner we grilled shrimp, zucchini, and onion it was really good, and we made a small salad , and cooked some brown rice.  I wasn't really fond of the brown rice but it is something that I am going to have to get used too.  Then before bed I had another pack of cookies.  As I was lying down I realized that I didn't do any exercising so that is something that I am going to have to start tomorrow.

Weight loss AND soda withdrawal all at the same time?  You are one brave woman!  My husband gave up soda late last year, and he went through withdrawal...his lasted probably about 2 weeks.  The first week was pretty bad, the second wasn't too bad.  So you can do it!  You're mostly through the worst of it! :)  Congratulations on your commitment!  I know you will both succeed! ~~Jess
